BARZEE

Barzee Swim is labor of love, a dedication, a devotion to the memory of the original Barzee.

As children we grew up in a small and quiet town, surrounded by the wild and beautiful Australian bushland.  Hot summer days were spent with the neighborhood kids; we breathed in the rich scent of the native eucalyptus trees and trekked our well worn secret bush trails, not returning home until the sun had long since set and the cicadas had started to sing their nightly chorus.

Some of our best memories were those summers when we piled into the family station wagon, journeying up the coastline, arriving at our grandparents home in the little beach town of Woolgoolga. The days were spent cruising the idyllic local beaches,  eating rainbow colored ice cream cones and cementing the incredible bond we had as siblings. During one such summer our little brother, Nicholas, came to be known by the pet name of "BARZEE".  

Heartbreakingly, in 2006, at only 20 years old, Barzee was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. We were devastated. Cancer happened to other people, but not us, right?  In 2016, after a brave and faithful battle our Barzee left us for his new home in heaven.

As a mother I was always looking for ways to make traveling and outings with my three kids easier, sustainable and stylish. I found with Turkish towels I was able to carry more towels, taking up less space and weighing less than a traditional beach towel. In fact, they were so light and comfortable my kids liked to carry and wear them themselves! I wanted to share these amazing towels with other moms and travelers around the world. I realized I could bring this desire together with my main motivation in life, to create a lasting legacy to Barzee's memory. Through the sale of Barzee towels and partnerships with Neverthirst and Mercy Ships Mercy Vision program we will be changing the world, one water well and one sight restoring surgery at a time. 15% of all profits from Barzee Swim go to funding these incredible initiatives.
