We are also very proud to partner with Mercy Ships International. Mercy Ships is a global charity that has operated hospital ships in developing nations since 1978. Mercy Ships brings hope and healing to the forgotten poor by mobilizing people and resources worldwide, and serving all people without regard for race, gender, or religion. Mercy Ships programs promote health and well-being by serving the urgent surgical needs of, and empowering, developing communities. Since its founding, Mercy Ships has delivered services valued at over $1.43 billion and impacting more than 16.3 million people as direct beneficiaries. Barzee will specifically supporting Mercy Ships "Mercy Vision" program. In the developing world women are 1.3 times more likely to be blind, or vision impaired, than men. Most significantly, four out of five of them are needlessly blind, as their eye conditions can be easily prevented or treated. Women and girls who do not have eye problems themselves can also be disproportionally affected by blindness, as they are the ones who most often have to care for blind relatives. Girls often have to leave school to care for their adult relatives who have gone blind. In this way poverty passes across generations because girls who are unable to attend school end up less educated, less skilled and poorer as adults. As a female owned business we stand in solidarity with women around the world and are committed to improving the lives of women everywhere. Lets help end preventable blindness!
